Montlior Foundation Commits CRK 12 Million to Regional Newsroom Apprenticeships
Meridale, Coravia — The Montlior Foundation has committed CRK 12 million over four years to fund paid apprenticeships at independent regional titles. The programme will place 240 apprentices across the five provinces, with priority given to newsrooms outside the capital.
Each placement carries a full salary at the industry floor, a training budget and a named editor as mentor. Host titles apply directly to the Foundation and retain complete editorial independence; no Montlior title is eligible.
Applications open on 1 September. The Foundation expects the first cohort to start in January 2027.
